Joan Jett (The Runaways, The Blackhearts)

When I think of rock and roll, the first thing I think about it that catchy tune, I Love Rock n Roll. Just another dime in the jukebox, baby...C'mon who hasn't heard that song?
Joan Jett is a rock legend, with her solo career, the Runaways, and the Blackhearts. She IS the definition of a rock and roll chick. Most call her the Queen of Rock n Roll, which is she in opinion.
Her plays a mean guitar, her voice is perfect her music, and well you gotta admit, she has awesome hair.
I will be posting some songs from the Runaways and the Blackhearts, which Joan was both in.

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been trying to find new bands to tell you about and I finally found one!
Mika (born Michael Holbrook Penniman, Jr.) is a musican/song-writer, with a true talent. Please listen to one of his songs, especially his song 'Love Today'. And the music video is really fun :)  I wish I could learn about this artist but I couldn't find the information I needed :( But in a bit, I will post his music video 'Love Today' and 'We are Young' (no collabration with Fun. One Direction is 100% one of my favorite groups.
One Direction gives the concept of a boy band a new meaning.
This group consists of:
Harry Styles- born in Evesham, Cheshire, England on February 1, 1994
Louis Tomlinson-born in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England on December 24, 1991
Niall Horan- born in Mullinger, County Westmeath, Ireland on September 13, 1993
Zayn Malik- born in St. Luke Hospitial on January 12, 1993
Liam Payne- born in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England on August 29, 1993
One Direction began on Simon Cowell's X-Factor back in 2010 when all 5 boys auditioned but didn't qualify for the "Boys" catergory. Then, special guest judge, Nicole Scherzinger suggested that the boys form a band so they could qualify for the "Groups" catergory. They later in the series placed third on X-Factor and signed to Simon Cowell's record label. Then later signed to North America to Columbia Records. *information found from Wikipedia*
One Direction has taken America by storm with their newest singles "What Makes You Beautiful" and "One Thing" They have made guest appearance on shows like iCarly, Saturday Night Live, The Today Show, etc.

I really like MCR:) I learned about My Chemical Romance listening to the Panic! At The Disco channel. Their song "Teenagers" got me tom listen to their other songs. Here are a few I really like:

Band of the Week: Maroon 5

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! :)
Band of the week as of 3.10.12 is Maroon 5.
I seriously love this band. I can't get enough of their songs! I first heard them when I was watching TV and their song "Makes Me Wonder" come up and I instantly fell in love with them! And this was like 5 or so years ago.
Maroon 5 formed in Los Angeles, Calfornia. When they were still in high school Adam Levine (lead vocals and gutiarist), Jesse Carmichael (keyboardist), Mickey Madden (bass gutiarist), and Ryan Dusick formed a garage band named Kara's Flowers. They even released a album in 1997. After a short period of time, they re-formed with James Valentine (gutiarist) and re-named the band Maroon 5.

I love Shiloh's music!
Shiloh is an alternative artist with a bit of an edge. She has performed with Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Hedley, Stereos, Theory of a Deadman, Marianas Trench, and Faber Drive.
Shiloh's hit "Operator (A Girl Like Me)" was charted on Candian Hot 100 and she was listed as #1 Emerging Talent Artist as of December 19, 2008.

Band of the Week: The Downtown Fiction

I learned about The Downtown Fiction listening to Pandora on the Hot Chelle Rae station. I love this band!
This band has more of an alternative punk sound which (to me) is the best kind. The first song I ever heard from TDF was one of their newest song "I Just Wanna Run" which is now my favorite song. The first album released was called "The Downtown Fiction" in 2009, then the very next year, they released "Best I Never Had" in 2010. Then released "The Double". In 2011 they released "Let's Be Animals" in 2011 then released their newest album "Pineapple".
This band consists of:

David Pavluk - Bass, backing vocals (2008-Present)
Wes Dimond - Lead guitar, backing vocals (2011-Present)

Artist of the Week: Gotye

I love Gotye!
Wally de Backer (aka Gotye) is an Belgian-Austrialian artist, born in Belgian but moved to Melbourne, Australia at the age of 2.
He has 3 studio albums Boardface, Like Drawing Blood, and his newest album Making Mirrors.
His newest song "Somebody That I Used to Know" feat. Kimbra has taken the US by storm, by taking #1 on iTunes Alternative Top Ten, showing up on TV, on Youtube, and everywhere!
In my opinion, his music is AMAZING!

Band of the Week: For King & Country

I love this band! I learned about this band when my social studies teacher showed us a song of theirs.
For King & Country is an Australian Christian band. They two band members are brother and have been all about music ever since they could remember. I love their song "Light it up"!
I wish I could learn more about this band!

"Light it Up" For King & Country

This song was written for a friend of "For King & Country" who was very depressed and was looking for a light. This song has such a powerful message that needs to be heard. If you know someone who is going through a hard time, show them this song. This song made a difference in my life.

I'm grateful my social studies teacher showed us this song, otherwise I would not be here, blogging about it. This song is truly amazing. It needs to be shared :)

The band of the week this week is Foster the People.
This band is amazing!
Foster the People is a indie band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009. The band was created and formed by Mark Foster. When their song "Pumped Up Kicks" first come out in 2010, most everyone knows their name. Their songs "Helena Beat" and "Call It What You Want" is truly amazing.
Their soundtrack "Torches" is truly wonderful.
Foster the People consists of:
Mark Foster- vocals, keyboards, piano, synthesizers, guitar, programming, percussion
Cubbie Fink-bass and backing vocals
Mark Pontius- drums and extra percussion
I totally recommand listening to their album "Torches"

Hot Chelle Rae is my new favorite band! I absolutely love this band! No joke, they are my background on my iPod! :)
Hot Chelle Rae is (to me at least) a rock/pop band. I'm sure we have heard of their double platium song "Tonight Tonight" This band formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2005. And the members of this band are. . . .

The Band of the Week: The Ting Tings

I have been listening to the Ting Tings since I heard their song "Shut Up and Let Me Go".  This band isn't the kind of band I usually listen to, the Ting Tings have more of an electric sound. I will post a video to show what I mean.

The Tings Tings were formed in December 2007.

Band of the Week: All American Rejects

All Americam Rejects is a steampunk/ punk band was formed in 1999 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I absoultely LOVE this band! My favorite All American Rejects songs are "It Ends Tonight", "Real World", " The Wind Blows", etc.

Panic! At The Disco

Panic! At the Disco is the band of the week for this week. I love this band so much! I got the privlige to see them in concert and it was amazing!
Panic! At The Disco began back in 2005 in Nevada. They first released their first album called "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" then, released their second album "Pretty Odd". After Pretty Odd as released, Ryan Ross (guitar) and Jon Walker (Bass) left the band to form a new band. As for teh two remaining members, Brendon Urie (vocals) and Spencer Smith (drums, percussion), they continued on as Panic! At The Disco. They released a third album called "Vices & Virtues".
I love their music and the lead singer is very cute! :)

So, I have decide to add a Band of the Week to this blog!
Now, every Sunday I will chose a new band and post their picture. This week, Band of the Week is Fall Out Boy.
Fall Out Boy is a rock/punk band I came across. Currently they are on a short break and each band member has a brand new project.
The band is Patrick Stump (Lead vocals), Pete Wentz (Bass guitar, backing vocals) Joe Trohman (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Andy Hurley (drums, percussion)
